The importance of being liked

This has nothing to do with popularity, nor does it have anything to do with what or how people think of you! Being liked starts with you and then trickles down. Whether you are in a relationship or not, it is critical that you like yourself.

The difference between like and love is fairly significant. When we like ourselves we enjoy our own company, we think we are nice, funny and great to be around. We can’t imagine that most people wouldn’t like us. Think of the attributes of your friends, think of what you really enjoy about being with them. Most of the time, if you are truly honest with yourself, you will realize that the main reason you enjoy being around your friends is because YOU feel good! You are happy and having fun!! You are enjoying being alive, despite any negative things going on in your life.

We all need to examine our relationship with ourselves. We need to come from a place of truly liking who we are. This means that you find your greatest attributes and you dwell there — don’t even go to the things you dislike about yourself. This doesn’t mean that you ignore your faults, we all have them and need to be continually working on them. But your faults don’t make you unlikeable (unless you are mean, selfish, negative and critical).

Once you really like yourself, it is easier to share yourself!! Once you share yourself, you find that you are not alone, that you have friends and FUN!

Take a few moments to write down 3 things that you like about yourself. Keep these with you and look at them often. Continue on a weekly basis to write another three things you like about yourself. As you do this you will find an amazing thing happens!! YOU NO LONGER SPEND YOUR TIME LOOKING AT THE THINGS YOU DON’T LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF.

You have heard me say instead of being against war, be for peace! This is the positive way to look at things. You have only so much emotional energy every day, use it for positive!!
