How to Deal with Unusual Emotions

Some emotions are just downright weird! You feel them churning inside of you but you can’t for the life of you identify them. It is at this point that most of us shut down. It is too painful to feel.

A healthy way to deal with these weird emotions is to stop and really examine them. It only takes a minute or so. Then try to put words to them — label them if you will. When we label our emotions, it is easier to manage the feelings. We may be able to make sense of them and then choose how to deal with them.

Labeling your emotion probably won’t change it, but it helps to choose how we want to respond to that feeling. That empowers us to move through it and move on!
