The Dreaded “DTR”

I am seeing someone that I really like, however, it has only been about 6 weeks and he wants to define the relationship i.e.: “Are we exclusive?” I am uncomfortable with this and I am trying to go by your dating guidelines.

My question is, how do I say in a positive way that I really am “In Like” with this person?

This happens a lot! You need to be honest with this person. Explain why you don’t want to put a label on this relationship at this time. It’s OK to tell him that you really like him and you are really interested in making the relationship work. But tell him that research shows that hurrying up a relationship generally hurts a relationship…and hope he gets it!
