Compassion is a skill

“IF YOU WANT OTHERS TO BE HAPPY, PRACTICE COMPASSION. IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY, PRACTICE COMPASSION.” — The Dalai Lama

The most compassionate people are the most happy people. When you are compassionate the left frontal lobes in the brain show an increase in their energy level. The higher the energy level in the left frontal lobes, the greater the happiness level.

There are many ways to develop compassion. One easy way is to just think of the word and what it means to you personally. Most people would describe compassion as the feeling of empathy towards another person. Getting into their shoes for a moment. We sometimes find it more difficult to show compassion to those closest to us. Compassion begins at home.

Reflect on this for a few minutes each morning as you wake up. Go out into the world with a little more compassion.
