Ep. 4 | Change your thinking, change your life.

In this episode we introduce the OG New Adage “Change your thinking, change your life.” This adage weaves into SO MANY of the other adages, which is probably the reason that Karen has had it on her voicemail greeting for over 35 years.

EPISODE NOTES

Change your thinking change your life.

This has been the theme of Karen’s practice since the beginning and it is one of the most powerful concepts she tries to ingrain in each of her clients.

Every thought creates a feeling, which in turn creates an action. Imagine the power of creating the thought that could determine how you wanted to feel, despite the external environment!

You have a choice. Start to remind yourself that you have a choice. You make the weather. You have total control over your thoughts. It’s just a matter of talking to yourself.

Is it simple? Yes.

Is it easy? No.

But when you start to do it, you’ll never go back.

“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming. ” — Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

#peakmoments

Natalie and Karen both recommend getting outside. Natalie also shares this quote from L.R. Knost:

“Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.”
