Just a minute: It’s a long life.

Most people say life is short, which creates uneasiness. You feel as if there’s not enough time and you’re going to have regrets. When you say “it’s a long life”, it creates a feeling of calmness and it slows you down.

EPISODE NOTES

We are starting a new feature: Just a minute. In these episodes, Karen will talk about different things she’s heard, seen or noticed. The idea behind all of this is keeping you connected to mindfulness made easy, in an easily digestible format.

In an interesting side note, and full-blown-full-circle-moment, in the 1960s Karen’s dad had a one minute radio show that was broadcast throughout the Intermountain West region. He called it “just a minute”.

As Karen’s Dad said in his show: “The one minute you spend listening to each of these may be just the minute you’ll need, just a minute from now.”

Let’s take a minute.

It’s a long life.

One of the best things you can say to yourself when you’re worried or stressed out or forecasting is: “it’s a long life”. Most people say “life is short”, which creates uneasiness. You feel as if there’s not enough time and you’re going to have regrets. When you say “it’s a long life”, it creates a feeling of calmness and it slows you down.

All of us have a bad day or a bad hour or a bad few minutes even. But when you can say “it’s a long life”, it reminds you that this too shall pass and that you will feel happy again and better. It brings you into the here and now.

So next time you’re feeling stressed out about something, take a deep breath and say “it’s a long life” to become present without feeling rushed.

It’s a long life.” Mindfulness made easy.
